康剑飞在过去十几年中,不断延续着他的图像创造…这些作品的关注点并非完全在图像,而是在于对当代的精神性的表达。在这些版画中,个体永远是处在一种柔弱,被操控和伪装的境遇之中,但是同时他们似乎又似乎没有意识到这种操控和伪装,并似乎自得其乐。这种象征性的表达和简洁的符号,在指向当代精神性的同时,也提示着艺术家和中国传统文人画中,特别是石涛和八大山人的之间的连接。八大山人作为明朝遗民,曾经用大量的花鸟来表达对于社会时弊的看法。虽然是对于满清政权的曲折怀疑,但是他的绘画中,对于个性、个体的表达,却具有某种形而上的意义,从而有时也被看作是中国艺术史中对于强调个性与个体价值的"现代性"的开始。
通常一个艺术家所选择的图示往往暗示着他的价值判断。康剑飞的这些作品确实是在延续着对当代社会中个性与个体的思考,而这些问题也本不应该被当代艺术主流化的现实所遮蔽。

The focus of
Kang Jianfei's paintings is not completely on the images, but on
the expression of the modern spirit.In these print works, the individuals
are always in the fragile, manipulated and fake environment, but
at the same time, they seem to or not to realize the manipulation
and fakeness, and they seem to be happy. These symbolic expression
and concise symbols not only point the modern spirit, but also indicate
that the artist has some connection with the traditional Chinese
artists, especially with Shi Tao and BaDaShanRen(1626-1705),
who was painter of Ming Dynasty, he used to express his views on
the social problems by the images of the flowers and birds. Though
his paintings express the hidden doubts about the Qing Dynasty,
the individual and personal expressions in his paintings also have
some "metaphysical" meaning. Therefore, sometimes his
paintings are regarded as the beginning of emphasizing the individual
and personal values in the Chinese art history.
Generally
the images selected by an artist indicate his/her judgment of
values. These works of Kang Jianfei do continue the thinking about
the personalities and individuals of the modern society, and these
problems should have not been concealed by the modern mainstream
art.
